Did it work?

Several new initiatives kicked off using COVID (ESSER) dollars. This occurred at both the local and state levels for implementation and varied in terms of allocations that were federally defined. Now that we are nearing the funding cliff, the biggest question is — did it work?

Some efforts that were defined for implementation had no clear association to student outcomes or those outcomes would be far removed. These would include improvements to infrastructure. However, some efforts were implemented for the sole purpose of improving student outcomes. It is within our best interest to pause and analyze to determine if those efforts worked. WHY? Quite simply, if it worked, we need to find a way to keep supporting students that benefited from the implementation.

We have said on repeat that we need to stop doing things that don’t help students. Here is our opportunity to understand if something worked and develop a meaningful plan for it to continue.
