Planning is Intentional
Some think that “fires” in a workplace are spontaneous. However, just as with many other things in life, proactive thinking can navigate many fires in advance. There are times we may need to redefine the term “fire” to “avoidable uncomfortableness”. Planning allows a thoughtful dialogue as an individual and within an organization. There are times that risks can be identified and mitigated well before the issue comes into existence. Here are a few considerations borrowed from the business world that can apply to educational environments as well:
Do you have a way to define risks with your team?
Once identified, do you have a way to collaborate and assign mitigation strategies?
Is there a regular check-in process to gauge newly defined risks as the plan is deployed?
Do you have plans clearly defined for team members to follow?
Are timelines reasonable?
Are responsibilities clearly defined to stakeholders accountable?
Is success clearly defined by leadership AND has it been communicated?
If project planning is a new space, our team is here to support you. Keep us in mind as you navigate challenging efforts.
